OUR TECHNIQUES

Miroiterie Soufan proudly offers the full range of techniques looked for in the creative world of glass and mirrors.

Glass Tempering and Bending

Tempering is a technique regularly used to fortify glass and strengthen it. This helps for large facades and shop fronts. Glass when tempered will no longer break in large pieces but rather shatters into much smaller granules. Given that when heated, the glass can be also bent into any desired radius, this provides it with the perfect characteristics (strength, safety and shape) to be used for several practical or decorative purposes such as stair balustrades and balconies.

BEVELING AND EDGING

Beveling and Edging are commonly practiced techniques on most glass surfaces for safety and design. Beveling is more frequent on mirror edges with a wide range of angles from 5° to 45° degrees, combined with either a narrow or a wide chamfering on the edge. These practices are fully automated with the latest machinery and diverse types of edge designs: Flat edge to pencil edge, Waterfall edge, angle beveling, bull nose and OG.

Stained Glass

A chiefly manual technique that requires specialized, experienced and delicate professionals to build a masterpiece puzzle of colourful glass work to life.
The drawings or designs are first transferred into an assortment of small pieces of specific quality of glass. These pieces are then each put into a frame of lead that are in turn welded together to finally build the full art puzzle as a lively creation.
This type of artistic display is more prominent in Churches, hallways, Skylights and certain doors.

Glass Printing

A modern and highly demanded technique given the versatility and endless possibilities it provides. This involves printing any drawing on flat glass surfaces with vivid colours and vibrant display. The quality of the printed image is lively and naturally appealing.

Laminating

Glass Lamination is highly used due to its diverse properties and benefits. This could be on a large scale as for main facades (shops and buildings) and glass balustrades for protective and reflective purposes. (prevention of UV rays and shattering)
On the decorative side, Lamination is commonly used with a wide range of coloured films and provides as well the potential for diverse types of insertions such as fiber mesh, art worked metal sheets, and even timber among many others.

Back painting Glass

This is a painting technique commonly used for decorative purposes. It can be displayed on walls, doors, cabinets or wherever clients request to ornament. With the current advancements, it is now possible to match any desired colour be it standard or special.

Glass and mirrored furniture

Miroiterie Soufan also accommodates customized designs for specific furniture requests like tables, cabinets, and glass displays.

Engraving and Sandblasting

Glass engraving and sandblasting are commonly used forms of abrasive treatments to glass surfaces mainly for decorative and design purposes.
Engraving is mostly used to show depth and give a “3D” effect on the glass surface. We often find that this technique is implemented for detailed drawings or intricate designs and can be performed on multiple glass types such as tabletops, mirrors and decorative glass panes.
Sandblasting, on the other hand, is generally used for changing a glass surface from transparent to translucent primarily for privacy purposes but could as well be used to portray a simple or repetitive design pattern. This is more common for partitions, decorative mirrors, and shower enclosures.

Smart and LED Films

These special types of films are recently much more in trend due to their unique features.
Smart or Privacy films offer the opportunity to change the glass surface from an opaque glass to a transparent one with just one click. This switchable feature can be used wherever one wants to maintain brighter spaces making use of the opaque state of the glass panel. It is very common for boardrooms, bathroom partitions, offices and even hospitals. This special feature can also be mounted on existing glass surfaces to transform them into an interchangeable state providing the needed privacy.
LED Film/Glass is a special technology that incorporates LED light sources on conductive film which should be laminated with glass panels to create distinctive patterns, images, and logos as well.
It serves as an excellent partition, promotional tool in creating attention-grabbing displays and storefronts.
Some application examples are storefronts, hotels, exterior window displays, shop windows, façades, shelf displays, skylights, boutiques counter displays, and more.
